The Fly With Me Fund has been raising money through private donations since 2010. Prior to the establishment of the non-profit, the Silver family raised money for The MIND (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders) Institute at UC Davis in Sacramento. All monies raised have been put to use for the following purposes:
provide financial assistance to children and/or families needing appropriate medical evaluations and care as it pertains to their Fragile X Syndrome diagnosis but do not have the resources to visit one of the 30+ Fragile X Clinics in the United States
provide financial assistance to individuals living with Fragile X-associated Tremor Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS)* or Fragile X-associated Primary Ovarian Insufficiency (FXPOI)* without the resources to obtain appropriate care at one of the Fragile X Clinics
support new medical initiatives at research centers that relate directly to Fragile X Syndrome, initiatives that helps children benefit from research work and a tangible legacy of our donors.
purchase needed diagnostic equipment
Assistance with related expenses is disbursed by The National Fragile X Foundation. The National Fragile X Foundation maintains specific criteria for awarding the money based on need and they have continual access to the Fly With Me Fund .
